Jim Ruoff comes to Houghton College with over 20 years experience in Campus Dining. From his start as a Student Manager at Allegheny College to being the General Manager of Dining Services at Franklin & Marshall College, Jim has worked at some of the finer campuses in the Mid Atlantic Region. Some of the other campuses he has worked at include Bucknell University, Shenandoah University, UMBC and The Catholic University of America. Jim has catered for numerous dignitaries, PGA Tour events and once managed a sit down dinner honoring Rudy Giuliani after 9/11 that was for 2772 guests.

Jim will use this experience to make “Everyday a Better Day” at Houghton College.

Jim has been married for over 15 years and has 3 wonderful children.  Jim is an Eagle Scout and is still active in Scouting today as a volunteer member of his district committee in charge of fundraising. His other interest includes golfing, camping, reading and is a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

I have always had a passion for cooking and have been employed in the food service field since my early teens. Working with food is a creative and artistic outlet for me and I thoroughly enjoy the design and presentation aspects of my job.

On-the-job training proved to be the most beneficial learning environment for me. After graduating from high school, I was trained and mentored by several talented chefs and worked my way through the ranks from line cook to executive chef. Before joining the Sodexo team at Houghton College, I was employed by Aramark Corporation as a District Executive Chef. Earlier in my career I sharpened my culinary skills at several fine dining restaurants in Western New York including the Glen Iris Inn at Letchworth State Park, Hillside Inn and the Gaslight Pub. For the past three years my wife and I have owned and operated Decisions Catering and deli in Silver Springs, NY.

James Ward has 20 years experience in the contract food service industry. He started his career as a student worker while earning his Bachelors Degree at Siena College. James has worked at various colleges which include The University of Vermont, The College of New Jersey, Manhattan College and Marist College to name a few. James has always had a passion for catering and has kept it a part of his career.

James has been married for 11 years and has two beautiful daughters. James enjoys the outdoors and loves to play golf when he can.
